Token Holder Distribution: How Many Holders Is Safe?
4 min read · Updated
“10,000 holders” sounds safe. It isn’t, if 10 wallets own most of the supply. How the tokens are spread matters far more than how many wallets hold some. Here is what to look at.
Concentration beats holder count
Holder counts are easy to fake: airdropping tiny amounts to thousands of wallets costs little. What matters is the share held by the biggest real wallets. If the top 10 (excluding pools, exchanges, lockers and burns) hold more than 30–50%, a few people decide the price.
Rough guide
- Top 10 under 20%: well spread
- Top 10 at 20–50%: some big holders, watch them
- Top 10 above 50%, or one wallet above 10%: concentrated, high dump risk
Check the creator
A developer holding a large share can sell at any time. The token page shows how much the creator wallet holds, and Dev Tracking shows what that wallet did with its previous tokens.
See it visually
A bubble map turns the holder list into a picture, so concentration and bundles stand out immediately.
